New Institutions – Application & Orientation

Find out what you need to know about starting a private training institution in BC before applying for certification, and how to register for an Orientation Session.

Starting a Private Training Institution in BC is a resource designed to help first time applicants for a certificate understand: who needs a certificate, key considerations for applicants, and how to apply. The resource is intended to be used in conjunction with the Private Training Act Policy Manual. Review these resources before registering for an orientation session; institutions should be able to correctly answer basic questions about the Act before the orientation session.

It is a requirement under the Private Training Act (PTA) for first time applicants for a certificate to attend an orientation session within 6 months of applying for a certificate. The session must be completed by someone legally authorized to act on behalf of the institution, or the Senior Educational Administrator for the institution.

Institutions may participate in any session either in person or via webinar, however there is a limit to the number of participants that can be accommodated at each session.  A waitlist will be established once each session is full. Each session will run from approximately 9:00AM – 12:00PM.  In order for us to accommodate the maximum number of participants, a person can only register for one session.  Should a person register for multiple sessions his/her name will remain on the list for the earliest session and be removed from any subsequent sessions.

Due to COVID-19, all orientation sessions are being conducted via webinar until further notice.
