Find out what you need to know about starting a private training institution in BC before applying for certification, and how to participate in an Orientation Session.
Starting a Private Training Institution in BC is a resource designed to help first time applicants for a certificate understand: who needs a certificate, key considerations for applicants, and how to apply. The resource is intended to be used in conjunction with the Private Training Act Policy Manual. Review these resources before participating in an orientation; institutions should be able to correctly answer basic questions about the Act before the orientation session.
It is a requirement under the Private Training Act (PTA) for first time applicants for a certificate to attend an orientation within 6 months of applying for a certificate. The Orientation must be completed by someone legally authorized to act on behalf of the institution, or the Senior Educational Administrator for the institution.
Orientations are conducted by video conference on Microsoft® Teams. The meeting link for the next Orientation is included below. Please note:
- Each orientation will run from approximately 9:00AM – 12:00PM.
- There is a limit to the number of participants that can be accommodated at each session, and participants will be admitted on the day of the orientation on a first come first served basis.
- Please log in early to be admitted to the orientation before the start time. No participants will be admitted once the session is full and no participants will be admitted after the start time.
- If you are unable to attend the next meeting, please see upcoming orientation dates below and set a reminder for yourself and return to this page to log in prior to the start time as the meeting link will be updated for each upcoming session.
