Private training institutions in British Columbia require a certificate from the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) if they provide, or offer to provide, at least one career-related program with 40 hours or more of instructional time, and tuition of at least $4000.
Some private training institutions are exempt from regulation under the Private Training Act.
It is a requirement under the Private Training Act (PTA) for first time applicants for a certificate to attend an orientation session within 6 months of applying for a certificate. The session must be completed by someone legally authorized to act on behalf of the institution, or the Senior Educational Administrator for the institution..
